Well tomorrow summer is officially over for me. It sounds sad to some, but I am super excited to meet all my new kindergarten students!! My classroom is almost finished and seems to be coming together nicely. Bring on the Kinders!!!
Long day … May 25, 2012
Today, Jayden and I got up and headed to my classroom to work. (Yesterday we tore up my classroom trying to go through things.) We worked long and hard most of the time! While working, we get a message about needing to have our carpets cleared off by Tuesday! Really?!? Ugh!!! Nothing like bad news!! We continued working and got what we could done. But you can only do what you can do!!
At lunch, we ran over to MWC to have lunch with Billy. It was a nice break from the classroom. After lunch it was back to Moore to work.
Back at the school, we cleaned off a few things and emptied the fridge. We then loaded up “the zoo” to take home for the summer! “The zoo” would be 2 hamsters, 2 lizards, and a gang load of baby guppies!! It took a bit to load everyone up and it took even longer to unload everyone!! So glad I don’t have to do that every weekend!!
Tonight, the family was exhausted from the long week. We went to Subway for dinner and then Orange Leaf for dessert. Billy and I had promised Jayden we would take him on Friday evening! Ready for a relaxing weekend!!! (what is relaxing again!?!?)

Today was a wonderful day at school! My students were still so excited about the precious day’s program. They were ready to see the awards they received (especially the candy ones)!! I think the day before, the students were more wrapped up with the performance more than the awards!!
We also watched another class perform a special program about pirates. The program was so very cute!! Glad both AM and PM got to watch! Plus we have several siblings in the program, kindergarteners think their siblings are the smartest and coolest petiole in the school. Well … right behind their kindergarten teacher!! Kindergarten teachers are celebrities to their students!! 🙂
After school, Jayden and I went to his karate class. He loved karate until the end of class because he didn’t get a stripe and another child did. My bestie and I tried to explain to him why he didn’t and when he would. Then one of the coaches explained it, and Jayden took his answer. Kids!?!? We had told him the same answer!!
After karate, I came home and broke the handle on our couch. Boo!! It stinks!! On a plus side though, my husband cooked a yummy dinner!!!

Aww …. Relax! May 15, 2012
Today was the first of many long days… After working all day at school, my co-worker and I finished decorating for our kindergarten celebration. The students pictures (which they created of themselves) look so amazing on the wall!!! Thanks to Tammy and Cythnia for working hard during planning time! Thanks to Jennifer for helping me laminate!! What wonderful co-workers that I have!!
Once we were finished hanging the students work, I stayed at school to staple programs, fill out awards, and put student’s shirts out for tomorrow. I worked until my husband and son came for a quick dinner at Chick-Fil-A.
After dinner, my family went home and I went to CASA training.
CASA training was over substance abuse. Great activities at the class!
Training was over at 8:15 and I was home by 8:35. (did I mention that I hadn’t been home since 6:50 am?!?!)
Once home more work was needed!! Organize certificates, make list of who gets what, get OEA paperwork together, order Velata, and now …. Write a short blog to help me relax!
What a long, but great day!!! Just think after these next few long days I will be able to relax for the summer!
PTA Rocks! May 12, 2012
Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week!! Our PTA made our week amazing!!! On Monday, PTA gave us a bottle of water, flavor to add, and crackers with a cute little note.
On Tuesday, PTA gave us decorated paper clips. These are super cute and everyone had different colors!
On Wednesday, PTA gave us a caramel apple. Yummy!!! It was amazing!
On Thursday, PTA gave us Scissors that were all decorated and cute!!
On Friday, PTA ending the week with a luncheon that they catered. Italian food! The food was great and the bread was outstanding!
Aww …. What a great way to help end our successful school year! Someone told me that Teacher Week in May was just a Hallmark holiday. Who cares!! Public school teachers work hard all year long to instill academics, values, morals, and anything else that the students may need!! It is awesome to feel appreciated especially at the most stressful time of the school year!!
Thank you to all teachers who give their all every day and to all PTA who support the teachers with all their heart!! I hope that all teachers have PTA officers like we do at my school!!
Day 2 of Teacher Week May 8, 2012
Day 2 of Teacher Appreciation week was a success!! My students brought me cards of all kinds. The cards were hand-made and store bought. The inside were filled with beautiful pictures and kind words!! Here are some of the ones I received today.
I love all of them!! Aren’t they all so previous?? This is why I am a teacher!! Every day we face a challenges in life either at work or at home. In the mist of these challenges, we have millions of happy moments. It seems that many people focus on the bad times or negative times.
School is that way many days. I can focus on the way our government sees education or teachers or how much money is in the school budget …. But instead I will remember why I am a public school teacher. It doesn’t matter what happens or what the budget is. Every day I have 44 babies that need me to be positive and ready to educated!!
I am a proud PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER!!
Classroom 12-13 May 3, 2012
I have decided that next year my classroom must be set up differently. Long ago when I thought Pre-K, my classroom was set up with many different little centers and work stations. I loved it!!! Now that I am back in an early childhood classroom, I really want my classroom back that way.
Of course, all the furniture and supplies cost a lot of money!! I am so lucky to have a husband who can help with that. Instead of $200 bookcase, I spend $50 at Lowes and my husband creates them. For $50, he is building two bookcases AND a listening center!! He rocks!!
The bookcases will be used to house the center items and work items!! Plus through donors choose, I have recently gotten a whole set of listening centers that will be perfect housed on the listening station he is building!!

I found out tonight that the custodian that works in my hallway at Kelley has passed away. He had a heart attack over spring break and has been out of school recovering. My class made him a poster to hang up showing how much we missed him at school!! I never imagined him passing away!! I figured he would be out the rest of the school year, but he would be back.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, both at home family and his school family! Kelley has lost a wonderful man!
May you rest in peace Mr. Ron!! You will be remembered!!! And please don’t use that crimson color in Heaven!!
