Focus June 19, 2012

Today we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at karate. Jayden was so excited to go today. Before karate we have the talk about trying everything the coach tells us to do and trying our best. Sometimes my precious child doesn’t want to try new things until he has seen other do it. I try to encourage him before class so he is prepared for new things.

Once class begins, Jayden always try to find one of his favorite coaches to stand by. He seems to choose the same coaches.

Here he is locking it up! And of course beside the coach! 😉 First they pretend to be some animals – bear and dinosaur.

Obstacle time! He loves this part of karate. He loves doing the obstacles to get to the bag to kick or hit whichever they are doing.

Again, excited after doing the obstacle!! He is doing so well at following the directions.

Tonight they learned to tell bullies to stop. He loves the part where he pushes the coach an the coach falls!!

Stripe Time! June 15, 2012

On Wednesday evening, Jayden got his first stripe in karate. He has been waiting for it ‘for so long’. (his words) He couldn’t wait to come home and show his daddy.

Today was a wonderful day at school! My students were still so excited about the precious day’s program. They were ready to see the awards they received (especially the candy ones)!! I think the day before, the students were more wrapped up with the performance more than the awards!!

We also watched another class perform a special program about pirates. The program was so very cute!! Glad both AM and PM got to watch! Plus we have several siblings in the program, kindergarteners think their siblings are the smartest and coolest petiole in the school. Well … right behind their kindergarten teacher!! Kindergarten teachers are celebrities to their students!! 🙂
After school, Jayden and I went to his karate class. He loved karate until the end of class because he didn’t get a stripe and another child did. My bestie and I tried to explain to him why he didn’t and when he would. Then one of the coaches explained it, and Jayden took his answer. Kids!?!? We had told him the same answer!!
After karate, I came home and broke the handle on our couch. Boo!! It stinks!! On a plus side though, my husband cooked a yummy dinner!!!

My Karate Kid May 9, 2012

Well, Jayden is still in love with karate. We went last Thursday and he was so excited to see what he was going to get to do. He tackled the ‘angry horse’ – I think that’s what it’s called.

This time the other coach taught, I worried it might change the way Jayden participated. Yeah!! It didn’t!!

Friday, he was so upset because it wasn’t a karate day. Poor guy wants to go every day. I hope he still likes karate in 6 months since we signed up! 😉

Karate Time May 6, 2012

Jayden decided that he is ready to take karate! I wanted him to take about 8 months ago but he didn’t have interest it, so I let it alone. He recently has decided he wants to. We went to the karate one-on-one and he liked that! He has now attended the actually karate class. He LOVED the class!! He couldn’t wait to go back.

As a mom, I have always wanted my child to be involved in some type of activity. I also knew that I couldn’t push an activity on my son; he had to choose something that interested him.

Last spring, I encouraged him to play t-ball and he played part of the time. I was so discouraged about it. It was so much work for my husband and I to get him to even think about playing. Then fall t-ball came around, I thought he would donor easier. Well, super wrong!! He still didn’t like it and it was team that was only out for winning. The coaches didn’t care about the fun outcome only the win. Such a sad thing to see for a bunch of 4 year olds!

Karate April 27, 2012

I have a friend whose children take karate. I tried to get Jayden to go about 6 months and he didn’t show much interest so I let it go. About 2 weeks ago, he asked me if he could go to karate. I made a one on one appointment for him. Today, we went to that appointment to see how he would do. The coach gave Jayden his karate pants and let him pick out his karate shirt. What an amazing moment to watch my child completely respect someone!! He did an outstanding job!

Next week, Jayden will start his trial lessons with the group of kids. Two of his friends are in the class which I hope it will help him adjust quickly. I hope all goes well and he continues to love the karate lessons.
